Jars & Pots

Yesterday I attended a baby shower for Anths Step Brothers wife. I made a big cobb salad and a bowl with fruit and dip. I wasn't planning on it but I decided to snap some pictures to show how simple these ideas were.

I took the pictures of these jars today. The vinaigrette label has dressing all over it so it looks kind of crappy. I think if I do these again I will use some burlap on the tops of the lids and put more love into the tags. This was a last minute idea so it looks pretty sloppy.

This is a horrible photo that I took before the shower yesterday. This was not what I wanted it to be but I had to change plans when I realized that I didn't have enough time. What I wanted to do was put a stick in the middle of the vase with a foam ball on top and cover the ball with toothpicks. I would then push strawberries on the toothpicks. I would kind of look like a topiary tree. I would keep the same dip idea to the pot. I will have to try that next time when I have more time. I instead just filled the bottom of the pot with cotton, layered with fabric and then lined with saran wrap. I then tied the ribbon around the outside of the pot, fabric and saran wrap so it was tight. I then poured dip in pot. I think it was a fun touch instead of just pouring some dip in a bowl.

The dip I used is pretty well known. It is the mixture of marshmallow puff and cream cheese. I did however not have enough marshmallow so I improvised.

Original Recipe
1} 15 oz Marshmallow Puff
2} Package of Cream Cheese
Combine until smooth

Improvised Recipe
1} 15 Oz Marshmallow Puff
2} 2 Packages of Cream Cheese
3} Sm swig of Almond Extract
4}1/4 C. Splenda
5} 1 tsp. Vanilla
Combine until smooth
Add chocolate shavings and almond slivers for a little excitement

The shower turned out great. A lot of people showed up and Debbie (Anths Step Mom) did a great job hosting it!!! Can't wait to see the little guy when he arrives!

Everything you brought to the shower was yummy! I was thinking those jars were adorable too & wondering who made them.
