Mash Up {of this weekend}

Mash up....Lame title. I am out of witty titles. And really, what title do you come up with when you have a list of things to discuss? A whole mash up of this weekend. Hold up...the word, "mash" makes me think of the song, "Monster Mash", which is the wrong time of year. Anyway, lets get past the title of this post....

Lets talk about my greatest latest outfit. Exhibit A:

I think it's a fine outfit. But before you agree, let me take a moment to share a story about this mint colored shirt.

As everyone is well aware, we are packing. Anthony has been hinting that maybe I should start cleaning my closet. It was bad. Real bad. Like 13 year old boy who doesn't have any parents to guide him bad. For some reason I cannot keep order to this small space. Things get shoved more often than not. So, needless to say I was not looking forward to cleaning it out. But, it had to be done.

So I took an hour or two and started sorting, folding, and boxing away items I wouldn't be using in the next couple weeks. During the big clean out I found this shirt. This beautiful mint colored shirt. I haven't seen this shirt in probably 3 or 4 years (this closet story is shameful). I might have given it a little hug. "Why has it been so long shirt? Where you been boo?" I put it in my pile for "tomorrows outfit."

Friday rolled around and I got ready for work. I felt extra fancy with my shirt and even added some fake pearls to mimic my fancy attitude. Too feel so confident on a Friday is rare. Normally I am impressed with myself if every item of clothing I am wearing is clean (: Oh adulthood.....

I arrived to work and at some point I looked down and there it was. The reason I hadn't worn it in so long.
Do you see it? Yeah....2 HUGE grease stains! What the heck? Couple things went through my mind:
#1 Why would I have kept this shirt if it was this badly ruined?
#2 What did I eat? Was it that time I scarfed down a burrito on my way to a nanny job and the grease squirted out the tin foil and badly burned my thigh? Or was this a different incident? Because THAT is a lot of grease. (In my defense, I smelled the spot...it didn't smell like grease. But again, it has been sitting for years)
#3 How is it possible that I didn't see this earlier? I always do a good full body quality control checkup in the full length mirror before I leave. (Wow, say that 3 times fast)

full body quality control checkup in the full length mirror

All day I tugged at my too short cardigan in hopes to cover it up. It was no use. Instead of feeling fancy (for that whole 30 minutes), I instead felt....well.....greasy. It was a long shift. Luckily nobody asked me about it...I can't imagine what my response would have been, "Yeah, I had a hearty lunch." or the honest answer..."I found this in my closet after finally cleaning it for the first time in 4ish year. I think it is from the big burrito incident of 2008."

Goodbye beautiful mint green shirt. It is time to depart. Fool me once, shame on me....etc.

Friday night, after departing with the shirt we cleaned all night. It was exhausting and I have no pictures. I found crap I haven't seen in years and I had a massive donation pile.

Saturday. Saturday was equally exhausting. We got up at 7am. I showered, made a fruit salad and we headed to the annual Ellis family Christmas party. It is probably my favorite Christmas party. For a couple of reason. #1 they have excellent food. #2 they do a fun gift or ornament exchange #3 They keep it short. They know we are all busy and I appreciate that. #4 SANTA! Who doesn't love the big guy?

Lets run through these photos. For they each have a story.

Anth never likes photos, but as you can tell by the upper left photo, he was super stoked to unwrap this white elephant gift, which was home made caramels. Unfortunately everyone else liked it and it was quickly stolen. He did however end up with some chocolate coal and chocolate orange (see middle upper photo).

I won a wicked awesome beanie but it was also stolen (see bottom middle photo), so I ended up stealing a beautiful vase lookin candle holder(not shown) (sorry again Jen). Anthony enjoyed sitting next to Santa so much that he had a deep conversation with him before he took off to north pole (see upper right photo). "So take a left and head north as far as you can..."

Bottom right was our white elephant gift. We suck. I ordered (2) 4 inch gummy bears on a stick. Imagine my frustration when I noticed they were being delivered on Monday and not Saturday. Lame. So the poor schmucks that got our gifts got a piece of paper. P.s I am so sorry to those who got them.

After the party we stopped at the house to measure the windows for blinds.

Did I take pictures of the flooring (uncovered in the bathroom) or the almost finished tiling job in the master bath, laundry room and spare bathroom? Nope...sure didn't. But I did however take a picture of the railing. I must have found it more interesting than the other items...hmmmm. The outside is looking good. The stucco is up, they just need to paint everything now.

After measuring the windows we had to drop 3 huge boxes off to the D.I. We then went to Home Depot to get paint so Anth could touch up on the walls for the next home owner. Then we took a break. Which consisted of: Apple Slices, PB&J and Toy Story 3. How old are we? It was just the break we needed and from 4-11 we cleaned, packed and painted.

Today came around (is anyone even reading at this point?) and we some how made it to church. We skipped the last two classes and came home and continued the cleaning. What happened to resting on the Sabbath? Sad...

Then off to the inlaws. We had dinner for Anthonys birthday (he's going to be 29 on Wednesday). Then we went to a musical program at the church. When his Mom told us to wear nice clothes but not dress clothes I might have rebelled and wore nicer jeans and a cardigan. Somehow I didn't grasp that we would be at the church. The chapel and gym were full. I imagined it to be a fun sing along, hence my rebel jean attire. No...no no. It was a spiritual Christmas program and I was the only one in jeans. Smooth...real smooth. I should had just added my greasy mint shirt to truly throw everyone off. Regardless, the musical talent was amazing.

Got home around 8:30. Changed the sheets on the bed. Vacuumed upstairs and downstairs again...(didn't I do this yesterday already?) And finally collapsed on couch while I watched Anth mop the floors. What a weekend!!!!!

The appraisal dude comes tomorrow at noon and I hope it goes well. I already wish tomorrow was Friday. I am exhausted and I can't wait for January to come around. I want us to be settled and I want a free weekend (:

This was my Mash Up....again, not to be confused with...

He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

Loved the mash up. Cleaning all weekend doesn't sound fun, but at least you got some fun in.

If it makes you feel better, i do the same thing. but usually my old clothes have holes in them, and I'm already to work by the time i notice my bra showing through. what a long weekend... I hope you get a more relaxing one soon. but be happy! it's an exciting time for you guys! why waste happy times by sitting at home playing the sims all weekend, like i did... :)

It was fun to see you! I didn't realize you had such a busy weekend, moving prep stinks! I actually thought the fact that the gummy bears weren't there made it even more of a white elephant funny gift! We'll probably be by this afternoon to pick up the gummy bear, it's on our way to the dentist :). Thankyou!
