Apple Toast

"What are we having for breakfast?"
"Food"
"What kind of food?"
"Good Food"
"Sigh....Can you be more specific?"
"Not healthy food"
"Oh okay"

Apple Toast. I created this. It is delightful. It is not healthy....like at all. But it made me happy and Anthony ate it all and so therefore I am going to forget about the guilt rising in my belly when mentally counting the calories in this dish.

{Apple Toast} Feeds 4 or 2 fatties (:

Ingredients
2 Tart Apples
2 Eggs
2 Slices Wheat (or whatever) Bread
2 Tablespoon Butter
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Milk
1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
Pinch of Nutmeg
Walnuts (optional)

Method
Preheat oven to 425. Place butter in heated skillet. Cut apples in thin{ish} slices and saute apples. After a couple of minutes add a tablespoon of brown sugar to apples. Place lid on skillet so the sugar doesn't burn. Meanwhile combine eggs, sugar, milk, and syrup in bowl. Mix well.

Do not overcook apples. When you first think to yourself...."Should I pull them off the stove?" That is the perfect time. So precise right? You don't want to overcook them on the stove because they will also be baked and you don't want super mushy apples. Super mushy apples=sad face.

Grease mini loaf pan. Start laying. Pour a small amount (tablespoon) of egg mixture in bottom of pan.
Tear sliced bread apart and layer bottom of pan.
Add layer of cooked apples and sprinkle some walnuts if desired. Pour 2 tablespoons of egg mixture on top.
Repeat layering. Sprinkle small amount of nutmeg on top. Place in preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. It is finished when the corners are crispy.

What proceeds is..........

 An empty plate. Yum Yum!
