"Wait! What is this?"

So lately I have been trying different options to try to cut back on calories throughout my day. Last night we used turkey instead of hamburger when making tacos. I wrapped them in whole wheat tortilla shells and it taste just as good.

After work today I got an urge to visit whole foods since I haven't been for awhile. I picked up some items for dinner and walked out with a whole plethora of goodies in my new fabric bags. I have a hard time saying "Yes" to plastic bags while there so I decided I should just buy 2 fabric bags so I won't have to look like schmuck with an armful of stuff.

For dinner I made lasagna. I used organic marinara sauce, and ricotta cheese and then some awesome fake sausage that came dry......as in.....just add water.

It looked and tasted just the same! Here is the conversation with Anthony when he came home and sat down a the table.

Anthony: Hmmm lasagna, looks good.
Me: Of course its good. Just eat.
Anthony: Wait, is this ground turkey again?
Me: No, its sausage, please just eat.
Anthony: WAIT! What kind of sausage? Is it fake sausage?
Me:Ummm, I don't know.
Anthony: What is this?
Me: Do you want to see what it started out as?
Anthony: NO! That will not help anything!
Me: Okay then, just eat.

It went on like this the entire meal. It has the same texture and taste of sausage. I cooked up the entire package and put aside half of it to use for some breakfast burritos later this week. It was low in calories and of course fat. YAY for trying new things! Ready to see how it started?

Dry, dry as a bone.
Just add water. Place in fridge for 15 minutes so it can soak it all up....kinda gross
Not so gross anymore. Cook like you regularly would.
YAY! Turned out great! Lasagna, edamame, and fresh mango. Yum!

We always use turkey burger. Most of the time we cant tell because its mixed with spaghetti sauce or taco seasoning but Shad made hamburgers last week & they were definitely different than real hamburger. We've also switched to whole wheat pasta I was skeptical at first but I think it tastes just as good as the normal. And whole wheat tortillas. I've never seen fake sausage like that its kinda cool. The lasagna looks yummy
