I found a position online for a front desk supervisor at a local well known hotel. The posting said to not email or call regarding the position but to come in person to apply. Me being quite the rebel I decided that, no I will not be going in person. So therefore I emailed my resume and a lovely cover letter. I knew that I would not hear from them because obviously I can't follow directions.
2 days later I received a call saying that they were very interested in meeting me for an interview. Wow, being a rebel obviously has its perks.
I wore a pretty lil skirt and my hooker boots and strolled into the hotel with the idea that it could not be as bad as my previous interview. And to my surprise it went beautifully!
Not only did I answer every question honestly (I learned my lesson) I also was very comfortable and was not nervous at all. I first spoke with the front desk manager. After winning her over I was then interviewed by both the Assistant General Manager and General Manager. This went on for about an hour and then they introduced me to the Sales Executive. Every answer came out smoothly and to my amazement no trailing off or stuttering occurred. They had me fill out a background check form and told me they would contact me within the next 2 or 3 days. Total time for this interview was 2 hours. I went back to my job at the inn and told Shanna that I was 85% sure that I had the job.
3 hours later I was contacted and informed that I was the Front Desk Supervisor. I couldn't believe how quickly it all happened. I didn't even get a moment to really think about how it would be to work there. I feel a whole wave of emotions. The inn is so comfortable, I know every room by heart and have so much freedom. I just need a little more pay. This new job will not only pay me an excellent wage but will be a wonderful learning experience. It's a real job, like an adult job, but a ton of added responsibility. I will miss everyone at the Inn. I have given my 2 weeks and I'm sure it will whiz by.
So there you have it, Lindsey is leaving the inn. If you are wanting a good deal, sorry I am no longer your go-to girl.
I will keep posting about this new journey in my life. The last front desk supervisor only made it 3 days. My goal is 7.

Yay! Please notify me with further details when you have them! Two weeks notice is a good feeling but also scary! There is a shiz ton to learn but it'll be worth it. You'll have to tell me what kind of reservation system they use...
Congrats on the new job! The unknown is always scary. I had a similar situation a few years ago, and I am so glad for the experiences and opportunities that have come from it. It was definitely worth it.
Congrats to the next move in your career. Experiences are what mold us. That's exciting to hear. You always give me great details about the 'how to interview' and 'what not to say'. It's helpful for when (and if) I decide to jump back into the work force. Love it.

Good luck with everything! You are so brave - if I was comfortable in a job, I would just stay there out of comfort. I'm so impressed with people who are not afraid to progress and who know when it's time to make a move!
