Chicken in a {Carb} Blanket

Chicken Breast {Thin}
Parsley or favorite herb
Green onion
Bacon (cooked and crumbled)
4oz Cream Cheese
Salt & Pepper to taste
Dough (I used premade)
1 egg

Mix herb, onion, bacon, cheese, salt and pepper. Smear on chicken. Wrap dough around chicken. Whisk egg and brush over dough. It will create a beautiful golden brown. Bake at 400 for about 40 minutes. If dough gets golden brown before time is up, cover with tin foil.
{I added a little bit of garlic and red pepper flakes to the cream cheese on a whim. Do what you like, make it your own.}

Things I would change:
No Parsley. I think I will try basil or Thyme. Anything other than parsley. I will add more salt and more seasonings I think. It was kind of bland, even with my garlic and pepper flake. I love the dough though, the chicken was so moist and the bread was nice and flakey. The idea is amazing, I just need to figure out the flavors. Have you tried a similar recipe? Any suggestions?

This looks good. Too bad Joe isn't a fan of cream cheese. I guess I'll have to try this out next time he goes out of town. You also reminded me that I have a recipe I've been meaning to post on my blog.

This looks like it would make an amazing cordon-bleu. Maybe season chicken, cover with sliced ham, swiss cheese and dijon mustard before wrapping in dough.
I may have to try it...
