Lesson on prayer and.....another recipe

Scouts is never the same from week to week it seems. There are constantly boys having birthdays so it seems the moment I get comfortable with one particular boys personality they are shipped off to Anthonys class (Webelos). Every Tuesday I dread putting my hideous yellow button up shirt on and dragging myself out the door, but by time I get to class I can honestly say that I enjoy Scouts, which has been a shock to me. Right now the boys that we have are particularly hilarious and have so much personality.

We have had some issues with the boys volunteering for the opening "chores". We have a routine we stick to every week:

Prayer
Law of the Pack
Cub Scout Promise
Pledge of Allegiance
Lesson
Prayer

Whenever we would ask for volunteers blank stares would be the response. It was really frustrating. We finally came up with an incentive plan. The boys have beads they earn whenever they do a particular activity such as participate with the opening chores, help set up/clean up, and staying quiet and respectful and so on. It is amazing what a stupid little bead will do! They are so eager to help!

The majority of the boys are not religious. It is the most precious thing to hear some of the boys pray. "I will take a whack at it." What proceeds is a heart felt prayer! I think sometimes we get stuck in prayer ruts. "Please help us get home safely, help us to have fun at scouts and listen to our teachers."

My favorite prayers given lately: "Please help my rat to not get out of his cage anymore. Please bless that my dog won't bite the neighbors anymore. Please help me to wear my uniform next week so I can get an extra bead." It is hard not to giggle sometimes. They are so precious!

Today one of our quieter boys decided he would pray if someone helped him since "A prayer isn't something you memorize like the Law of the Pack and the Cub Scout Promise." The leader explained that a prayer has key elements:
Dear Heavenly Father
Thank Him for our blessings
Ask for things we may need
Close by saying, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
It was such a wonderful experience! He listened intently and prayed for the first time by himself and he did so well. All the boys were so impressed with him. I guess I just assumed that everyone knew how to pray, it has been a humbling experience. I am so grateful that I have that particular blessing in my life. Maybe they will take that particular lesson with them.

Normally on Tuesdays I don't do much for dinner because we are scrambling to get ready for scouts. I decided around 5 that I wanted to actually make dinner. I found a simple recipe and I had just enough time to make it. It turned out yummy! Also, Anthony was impressed....2nd time this week I made dinner! It is Tuesday folks! I am thoroughly impressed with myself.

Short Cut Lasagna

Preheat oven to 375. Grease cupcake tin. I used my mini loaf tin.

Ingredients
Wonton Wrappers
Marinara Sauce
Sausage/Hamburger or Turkey
Ricotta Cheese
Basil
Oregano
Mozzarella Cheese

I used Sausage. Brown sausage and add marinara sauce. Heat thoroughly. Meanwhile layer tin with wonton wrapper. Mix ricotta cheese with basil and oregano. Add spoonful of ricotta to wonton wrapper. After meat mixture is heated add spoonful on top of ricotta. Add a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering.

Bake for about 10 minutes or until wontons are golden brown on the corners. '

I realize I didn't put amounts on the ingredients. I did this for two reasons, #1 I am lazy #2 I eyeballed it. Guess what, it tastes amazing! I have faith you can eyeball it and create something edible as well! Prep time is about 10 minutes and baking is 10 minutes! How quick is that!?!

Those look delicious! To be honest though, my stomach began cramping as I read through the ingredients...those have a lot of cheese my friend!

I'm glad scouts went well. Our Tuesday is over, and tomorrow is Wednesday...we are half way there:)

Those Lasagna things look so good. I'm going to have to put them on the menu for next week.

When I was in scouts I too dreaded putting on that horrible yellow shirt. But the cute little boys always made it fun and entertaining.

Those look delish! You need to tell me how to make them. I bet the kids would go nuts over them..especially Blake!
