"Just so you know, I didn't wash my pants...."

As everyone and their neighbors, relatives and pets know, Lindsey Lyman has officially started her first day at school. {Insert choirs on angels....Hallelujah Hallelujah HALLELUJAH!}

I realized soon after I got married that it was foolish of me to not have completed some sort of schooling before embarking on the adventure called married life. Anthony started his Bachelors and Masters program, meanwhile the thought of school was always in the back of my mind. After he graduated I had pretty much decided that it wasn't going to happen for me. I am old folks. I wanted to start a family and starting school just didn't seem like the thing to start this late in life {I sound like I am in my 80's}.

After a rough day at work, I was feeling low. I was/am tired of having the same dead end jobs with no promise of a future. I am tired of not contributing much to our pockets. I work hard and I wish the paycheck would mirror that. So thus provoked the idea to search something out. What I found was the perfect solution. A 10 week course for Dental Assisting. I will complete my course with a CPR, Radiology and Dental Assisting Certificate. They help with job placement and thus far they have 95% placement within a month after graduating. Stupendous!

Monday was orientation. It went well. It is a small class, only 7 of us. I decided I wanted to try and be friendly. I know we are going to get close within the next couple of weeks and I decided I would dive in. The dentist was covering for his wife (the teacher) because their son was at home barfing his guts out. While the dentist was out in the hall I realized that on my scrubs was a mark. This mark was where the sizing sticker was. I had taken it off and didn't wash the pants thus leaving the sticky residue to collect lint and other remnants. You know how black is, it shows everything! I couldn't hide the fact that I didn't wash my pants so I decided to share it with the neighbor next to me.

"I just wanted you to know that this was where the sizing sticker was.....lol.....look how ridiculous it looks....I didn't wash my pants......Look at all the lint.................trailing off!"

................silence....................

It was not a shining moment for me. I slunk back in my chair and that was the extent of my friendliness that night. I will go for round two next week (: What a schmuck. I also struck out 2 other times when laughing about inappropriate things. At one point the dentist said sexual harassment and for some reason I thought of something that had happened at work and I busted out laughing. Then he was showing us different nasty teeth conditions. There was one mouth that had red infection stuff in the teeth. We all thought the mouth was from an older person.....nope it was a 3 year old with gummy bears in their teeth and they had caused rotting. I found it absolutely hilarious! Really?! A 3 year old?! Come on Mom! When I am nervous or know I shouldn't giggle, that is when I get out of control. I am going to be better next week....promise. Or maybe I should sip some nyquil before I leave so I am a little more mellow.

Anyways, that is what is going on. I have lots and lots of terms to learn and anatomy of the teeth to dive into. Exercise isn't going to be happening for awhile so I am really going to have to be good with my diet. I bought some fruit and spinach for smoothies in the morning, then thin bagels, turkey, pita chips and hummus for lunch. Dinner I will do what I want, within reason.

Anyways, thanks everyone for the support with school! I am really excited. This is going to be so great for the family and especially for me. I really needed this. I hope to build some confidence, better self worth and cha ching....better paying job (:

So you know...If you had told me about the sticker residue on your pants I would have laughed my head off and then wanted to go for ice cream after class with you and be your best friend forever! You rock! Good luck with your classes. I'm cheering for you!
